Dear Community,

I wanted to make you aware of a new grant program at the Tennessee Department of Transportation, referred to as the Tennessee Roadscapes Program.  This was established to help community groups and local governments beautify their communities.  As a part of this program communities and local organizations may now apply for landscaping and beautification grants for projects along state highways and interstates.

The state would like to encourage all municipal and county governments to apply.  Civic and neighborhood groups such as garden clubs, chambers of commerce, and development organizations demonstrating a partnership with their local governments will also be eligible to submit applications.  The Tennessee Roadscapes Grants will be awarded by TDOT on an 80/20 cost-share basis.  The department will fund 80 % of the cost of a project, with the grant recipient contributing the remaining 20%.
The minimum grant award is $10,000.00.  Grants are available thru federal funds that are specifically earmarked for roadway enhancement projects.
